AV PRODUCTION Case Study
Learning and Development Awards
Pre-Event Planning & Collaboration
A dedicated Key Account Manager was appointed to oversee all aspects of coordination. During pre-production, the team worked closely with the event organisers and venue to understand the flow of the awards ceremony, including presenter requirements, content delivery, and audience sightlines.
To support this, we:
- Developed detailed floor plans of the Lockwood Suite, mapping out staging, screen placement, lighting, and audience layout.
- Created front-of-house visualisations, enabling the client to clearly see how the room would look and function on the night.
- Planned power distribution, rigging, and safe installation within the venue.
This collaborative and visual-led planning approach gave the client full confidence in the design and ensured alignment across all stakeholders ahead of build day.
Event Design and Execution
At the centre of the stage, we built a 5m x 3m LED video wall, providing a vibrant and high-resolution backdrop for award content and visuals. This was complemented by two V-shaped LED pillars on either side.
The LED setup was mounted on a 6m x 1m support stage, alongside a carpeted main stage area measuring 8m x 2m. A Perspex lectern with integrated digital signage allowed for clear branding and speaker visibility.
To ensure content visibility throughout the room, we installed:
- Two 12ft x 7ft projection screens positioned on either side of the stage
- 10K projectors to deliver bright, sharp visuals
- A 43” comfort monitor for presenter support
Awards Stage and Lighting Design
The stage backdrop was enhanced with 24 metres of grey shimmer drape, adding texture and reflecting light to elevate the overall aesthetic.
Lighting played a crucial role in setting the atmosphere. Our setup included:
- A 4-way stage wash to evenly illuminate presenters.
- 26 uplighters positioned around the room.
- 4 moving head spotlights for dynamic effects and award moments.
- 4 room wash lights to balance the overall lighting environment.
Throughout the event, our technicians managed all AV elements, ensuring smooth transitions, precise cueing, and consistent quality across presentations, award announcements, and entertainment segments.
The Result
The final production delivered a polished and engaging awards experience that matched the prestige of the Learning and Development Awards.
The combination of LED visuals, projection, and dynamic lighting created a layered and immersive environment, ensuring every guest had a clear view and a memorable experience. The stage design provided a strong visual identity for the event, while the technical execution ensured everything ran seamlessly from start to finish.
The event was a success for both organisers and attendees, demonstrating how thoughtful AV design and expert delivery can elevate an awards ceremony into a truly impactful live experience.
